As I have worked with Marie Laveau, her presence with me began gently. It felt almost as though she was observing me first, seeing whether I was sincere, respectful, and truly serious about building a relationship with her rather than simply calling upon her when I wanted something.

As I continued dedicating my time, maintaining her altar, learning more about her, honoring her, and consistently showing up in the work, I began to experience her presence much more strongly. What initially felt subtle gradually became unmistakable.

For me, working with Marie Laveau has taught me that spiritual relationships are built through consistency, respect, devotion, and reciprocity. I do not approach her as though she is simply a spirit to command. I approach her with reverence, bring offerings, speak with her, spend time at her altar, and allow that relationship to develop naturally.

Her presence has felt powerful yet maternal, gentle when gentleness is needed, but strong, commanding, and very clear when she wants my attention. The more time I have dedicated to honoring her, the deeper that connection has felt.

That personal experience is also part of what I pour into this collection. It was not created simply from research or aesthetics. It was developed through time spent honoring Marie Laveau, working at her altar, learning her history, and building my own spiritual relationship with her.
